Castle Legends...
Some of you have been interested in the history behind Castle Blood. Some of that history is now being released to the commoners in a short statement presented below. It is unknown how much of the material below is fact, as much of it seems rather fantastical, but when the caretakers, Gravely and Grizelda, were pressed for further information, they simply said, "There are certain things the public would rather not know..."

The Castle History
Around 900 A.D., in the land we now call Russia, a powerful sorceress did battle with a dragon that was ravaging the countryside. The sorceress succeeded in killing the dragon and saving those around her, but had been mortally wounded herself---yet she did not die. Her blood had been poisoned by the bite of the dragon, and she found that only by drinking the blood of mortals could she maintain her vitaltiy. Thus the Vampiric bloodline of Castle Blood was begun.

By 1300 A.D., the vampire bloodlines had swept over all the surrounding areas, and had split into quarreling factions. The clan chiefs of the two most powerful factions, Cordelia and Gregory, decided to resolve their differences with a ritual marriage, the "Blood Rites," between Cordelia's daughter, Anastasia, and Gregory's son, Alexander. Alexander and Anastasia became the new clan chiefs and began a long and bloody reign throughout the Old World.

In the 1600's, Alexander and Anastasia became weary of being pursued by angry villagers with flaming torches and decided a move was in order. Along with some of their most loyal followers they moved to northern Scotland, where they built the original Castle Blood with the help of both the living and undead. The Castle was built upon an ancient burial site which was already infested with a glowering, oozing evil that sent its tendrils into the entire structure through whatever cracks and crevices it could find.

The Castle became a haven for vampires from all over the Old World; hence its name. Wraiths and Wights from the ancient burial ground swore an oath of fealty to the Castle. In exchange for extended lifespans as revenants, the MacCabre and McEvil clans, local to the area, allied themselves with the Castle and became the daylight eyes and ears of their vampire masters. Gravely and Grizelda MacCabre have been serving Alexander and Anastasia as the caretakers of the Castle since the vampires' initial arrival in Scotland.

More centuries passed, civilization encroached, and it was time for another move. In the late 1800's, Alexander and Anastasia turned their eyes upon the New World. They acquired the current site for the Castle, and then had it painstakingly moved, piece by piece, from Scotland to its new location. The old burial ground had so permeated the stones that it continued to exert its power over the Castle. Look carefully, and you will see the signs of its presence in the Castle even today. Once settled in this new location, the vampires sent some of the residents on expeditions to exotic climes to bring back the rare, the unusual, and the bizzare. You will see some of the latest findings as you tour the Castle grounds, with displays changing often as new items are located.

Right after the turn of the 1900's, an unfortunate accident occurred when an experiment being conducted by a certain scientist that had come to live at the Castle went wrong and left most of the living quarters uninhabitable. Trying to blend in with the surrounding area, a more current (at the time) building was erected next to the older remains.

Nowadays, in order to help finance the constant upgrades of the "collection," and to otherwise make ends meet, the vampires have decided to let mortals tour the Castle under the guise of a Halloween Attraction. They, and the other residents of the Castle, don the appearance of mortals for eleven months of the year, so as not to arouse any more suspicion than necessary. And only in October can they relax and be themselves while the foolish mortals around them pay for the privilege of playing their "games of the dead."

But, of course, this is just a legend.....
